Warrant Clerk (Municipal Court)

Under direct supervision of the Assistant Court Administrator. Performs clerical and quasi judicial administrative functions necessary to support the Municipal Court, requiring knowledge of Municipal Court procedures and traffic laws.  Provides support to the Warrant Officer and Deputy Clerk/Court Clerk I in their functions of administering justice. Has extensive public contact requiring judgment, initiative, discretion, and tact.
Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.  Must have effective communication skills, ability to work in fast-paced, high stress environment, and deal with conflict. Able to accurately process payments and balance cash drawer daily.  Preference will be given to a candidate that has experience with Municipal Court procedures and Incode software.  Spanish language skills are a plus.

Must have a high school diploma or a GED; minimum six (6) months Municipal Court office experience. Six (6) months related experience and/or training may be considered as a substitution for Municipal Court experience. Six (6) Cash handling experience. Intermediate experience in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel required. Intermediate experience in Incode Tyler Technology Software.

Special Requirements

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Possess 32 Hour New Clerk training through Texas Municipal Court Education Center (TMCEC) or must obtain the Municipal Court Clerk, Level I certification within twelve (12) months of hire date. Ability to obtain Notary Public Certificate within twelve (12) months of hire date. CONTINUING EDUCATION: Attendance of programs provided by the Texas Municipal Court Education Center (TMCEC) for continuing education. Must be able to travel as needed to attend education courses.
