SALARY RANGE - $59,090 - $69,693

Position Description

The purpose of this position is to provide police oversight and protection to the city’s court personnel and visitors of the court by maintaining a physical presence inside the courtroom and at the metal detector during all scheduled court dockets, and by scanning the court premises and facility via video surveillance at all times during daily operations. Additional major duties include serving warrants, detaining, arresting and booking wanted fugitives, conducting investigations and surveillance in order to determine fugitives' whereabouts and patterns, enforcing traffic laws and city ordinances, issuing citations, serving summons, assisting the police department on special details and calls, working on call for weekend prisoner transfers, and providing customer service support for the court system and interacting with other City employees and citizens. This is a rotating shift position, Monday through Friday and Tuesday through Saturday, every four months. This position does not provide direction to other employees.

The city offers vacation and sick leave, as well as ten paid holidays. Full time employees earn two weeks of vacation during their first year of employment and 10 hours of sick leave a month.


What We're Looking For

Deputy City Marshal - Six months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. One year experience as a licensed peace officer. Valid Texas Class C Drivers License, Licensed Texas Peace Officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), and Texas Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center operators Certificate (TCIC/NCIC) within one year of employment as a condition of continued employment.
