PRIMARY DUTY:
This position is responsible for maintaining records of court process, filing complaints, supervising support staff and providing premier customer service while coordinating activities with the general public.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to prioritize duties
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently without close supervision
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Skilled in and knowledge of basic office equipment and software (Word, Excel, etc)
- Requires the ability to read and understand all legal court documents
- Requires knowledge of the Texas Traffic laws, Code of Criminal Procedures and Penal Code
- Exceptional leadership capabilities
- Advanced knowledge of court terminology and courtroom functions Ability to monitor, manage and maintain key performance measures.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to adapt well to change.
- Ability to effectively time manage and prioritize.
- Effective problem resolution skills with ability to exercise good judgement and discretion.
- Must have polished and proven people skills with a focus of being able to interact well with a diverse population and provide excellent customer service both internally and externally.
- Ability to effectively lead and supervise personnel in a positive manner including mentoring, coaching, and developing.
- Ability to foster team building across all personnel across departments and external parties.
- Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing including proficient listening skills, rules of grammar, practices of document preparation, and conveying information in a concise, tactful, professional manner.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years of professional experience in local government.
- Five years of experience in Municipal Court related support position.
- One year of supervisory or lead experience within a Municipal Court setting preferred.
- Progressive experience in a Municipal Court environment, with a strong emphasis on case flow management, financial administration, and state statistical reporting is preferred.
- Proficiency in computer software applications commonly used in government operations. Preferably Tyler Justice 10
- Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
- Texas Court Clerk Level I Certification
- Employee must maintain certification through continuing education hours during duration of employment.
- Texas Court Clerk Level II - ability to obtain within 12 months of employment
- Employee must maintain certification through continuing education hours during duration of employment.
- Valid Texas Driver's License with a good driving record.
