General Description
The purpose of this class is to coordinate the operations of the County Court.
Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
· Maintains and coordinates the court’s daily docket and scheduling.
· Conducts status conferences, dispositions and disposition conferences in criminal cases.
· Schedules pleas, motions to suppress, motions for discovery, motions to revoke probation, punishment hearings, and bond reduction hearings.
· Appoints attorneys for indigent defendants and monitors those defendants that waive appointment for counsel.
· Prepares bond dockets for defendants out on bond.
· Prepares criminal trial docket according to jail and bond cases.
· Schedules Administrative Hearings.
· Addresses defendant jail mail; resolves or directs to appropriate department of person.
· Orders jury panel for all cases; makes transportation and meal arrangements.
· Participates in and schedules status and pre-trial conferences.
· Schedules minor settlement hearings, trials before the court, discovery motions, motions to compel, and motions for sanction.
· Appoints Ad Litem in civil cases.
· Prepares civil trial docket.
· Runs monthly reports of pending civil and criminal cases.
· Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- · Requires Bachelor’s degree.
- · Requires two years of experience in court administration, legal assistance or closely related experience.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
· Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
· Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
- · The work is typically performed sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
